Dr. RAMANA V. VASILI is a proud student of Kuchipudi Veteran Kalaprapurna Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam of Kuchipudi Art Academy, Chennai, Tamilnadu. Though Ramana is a Doctorate in Chemical Sciences he also graduated in Dance from Government College of Music and Dance, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. At the age of fifteen Ramana started his Kuchipudi training under Kalaprapurna Vempati Chinna Satyam. He completed his training for four years in Kuchipudi Art Academy, Chennai and moved to Hyderabad in 1977. He continued his training under Smt. Sobha Naidu and extended his teaching proficiency in her Kuchipudi Art Academy, Hyderabad.
MASTER RAMANA established Indian Ballet Theatre, a school of Indian Dance and Music in 1982 at the Temple Town Tirupati to propagate Annamacharya Sankeeranams through Dance.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams recognized his Institution Indian Ballet Theatre and arranged number of performances in and around Tirupati during many important occasions like Brahmotsavams, Annamacharya Jayanthi and Annamacharya Vardhanti. Sri Ramana is the only artist who solely dedicated himself and his Institution to propagate Annamacharya Sankeertanams through Kuchipudi dance style.
In 1989, Dr. Ramana got married to Chandra Prabha, a post graduate and also a Kuchipudi Dancer and a honour student at SriTyagaraja Government College of Music & Dance, Hyderabad which is affiliated to Sri Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. She trained many young boys and girls in Kuchipudi and folk styles at Hyderabad and Tirupati.
Till he reached USA in1993, for a period of eleven years, Ramana Vasili choreographed dances in the style of Kuchipudi for more than two hundred songs of Annamacharya. For a decade Sri Ramana trained hundreds of students and his Institution has been invited by Universities, State and Central Government Departments, Cultural Organisations throughout Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
